Virtual Lessons

After first virtual with LL

Are you in favor or opposed?

My first lesson via Face Time was with Jennifer. She is here in Milwaukee but our schedules only allowed for us to fit something in via Face Time. To do this lesson, she was on her computer and I my iPad. Considering I didn’t have many options for camera angles, it went smoothly. I was surprised by how much she could see while I moved. Jennifer would have me adjust things as we went, she would also rely on me to communicate with her on what I was feeling or how the movement adjustments felt. At the end of the lesson, I knew that this was something I could do again.

Next up, Lesley Logan.

After the plague of 2018 I set up a virtual lesson with Lesley. I had experience with her teaching because of Momentum Fest and Pilates Anytime. My goal was to have a one on one lesson with her and since I missed it in person, this was the next best thing. To my knowledge, she does this often and she’s good.

My first lesson with her we worked on mat. Let me tell ya, I was sore for a few days! She had me shaking within the first five minutes. Lesley was able to (just like Jennifer) see details that I didn’t think the camera could pick up. I mean, lets face it, technology has come a long way but the camera quality isn’t superb. I think the ability to see details comes from their training and understanding of the body.

My second lesson we worked on the reformer. Yes, I have a reformer and the reason behind that is a story for another day. We ran into a slight problem when my iPad fell flat on its face! We both laughed and I made my best attempt at solving for this. Other than that, it went smoothly.

Keep an open mind.

Virtual lessons aren’t as difficult or challenging as you’d think so I would urge anyone looking to try it to keep an open mind. It wasn’t until this past year that I had even attempted one and I have no regrets. Truthfully, it is a great way to work with people you wouldn’t be able to due to distance. Have you practiced via Skype or Face Time? What did you think about it? If you’re a teacher, is this something you offer? How do you feel about it?
