CCP Girls Night Out 2023

GNO 2023

In October 2023 I went to Charlotte, NC for Core Compassion Project’s annual fundraising event known as Girls Night Out. Since I was a new affiliate I really wanted to attend and show support.

Days before the event I hung out at the studio, taking lessons from Jill Hinson and Laura Pittman, as well as observing their teaching styles and how they work with clients. I was able to get a glimpse in to helping others in a new way and heard from a breast cancer thriver on how she felt finding movement after her diagnosis. This time was very valuable to me and I really appreciate them (and their clients) allowing me to be there.

The day of the event, it was raining and a bit chillier than expected. I found my way to the farm, excited to help out any way I could. I began with unloading the gift baskets that were up for raffle. Then moved on to laying table clothes, which led to setting up the place settings. Everything was coming together. I really enjoyed assisting with the set up as it gave me a chance to meet more ladies who are associated with CCP. Once things were finished the rain had stopped (thankfully) and I went back to my rental to get ready.

My friend Jamie, who lives in Charlotte, was going to the event with me so I scooped her up and drove us down. The farm is tucked away off a two lane highway. When you first enter you see farm land but as you continue it becomes wooded It’s quite beautiful and picturesque. I mistakenly brought heels with me, not realizing we’d be walking mostly through woods (definitely something to keep in mind for next time). The saving grace was that Jill’s sons were driving golf carts to bring guests up to the event space. Upon entering Jamie and I posed for photos, purchased raffle tickets, mingled with other guests, and found our seats. All of the affiliates and their guests were seated at the same table, which was fabulous. I was really excited because Mary (from Silverheart Yoga & Pilates) also flew down for this event. Mary and I knew one another from Momentumfest, Instagram, were part of the same business coaching group, and affiliates of CCP. It was nice to meet other affiliates as we normally wouldn’t have met in person.

Throughout the evening ladies shared stories of their experiences, gratitude for the community created, and expressed hope for a healthier future for all. It is definitely an event not to miss and I look forward to attending more CCP fundraising events.
