Crescent City Pilates
I was in New Orleans with friends, for a mini vacation. I am a morning person by nature and my friends are not. This allowed me time to myself in the mornings. It was a perfect opportunity to get a workout in!
Researching on Instagram and the internet I was able to find Crescent City Pilates . It is a lovely space, filled with so much natural light. Very warm and welcoming when you walk in. I chose this studio because I wanted to learn BASI and they have teachers who are BASI trained. Upon walking in and being evaluated (yes I know this sounds awkward but it’s not), we noticed my body was a bit out of sorts due to the flying. Amy was my instructor and she worked out the kinks, helped me connect with the roll up (which I’ve struggled with) and gave me tips to engage my hamstrings. My hamstrings can play a big role in the movement because I am hyper mobile. So I usually soften my knees when doing footwork on the reformer for fear that I will hyper extend my knees. She helped me focus on my hamstring engagement so that this wouldn’t happen.
Even though I didn’t get a full BASI workout, I did learn new techniques and bettered my body for the trip. If you find yourself in NOLA and want to try a studio, I would definitely recommend Crescent City Pilates. Next time I’m back, I know where I’m going!
